About me

By day and by profession, I am a psychologist. By academic training, I am a cultural anthropologist.  Efforts to understand the individual as well as the collective experience have been my life’s journey.   

I bring my humanistic eye to what I document photographically, but am finally freed from the confinement of words and more words.  How liberating to convey visually the emotions of people and places and the dichotomies that haunt and intrigue: what we choose to see and not see, the ways we connect and disconnect, the realm of our desires and losses, and how we make public what is private and private what is public.   These moments and experiences are shared and universal.  I try to convey all with empathy, humor and irony.

Born in Newark, New Jersey, and currently living in Baltimore, Maryland, the photographer is through and through an urbanite.
